Stress-Driven Discovery of Novel Cryptic Antibiotics from a Marine Fungus Penicillium sp. BB1122
Standard laboratory cultures have long been known to hinder activation of specific gene clusters which in turn hamper production of secondary metabolites with unique properties due to lack of innovation or the inability to trigger cryptic gene clusters' expression. Due to challenges related to the avoidance of the isolation of replicated metabolites, resistance-developing pathogens are to be ad...
متن کاملPenilumamide, a novel lumazine peptide isolated from the marine-derived fungus, Penicillium sp. CNL-338.
A novel lumazine peptide, penilumamide (1), was isolated from the fermentation broth of a marine-derived fungal strain, identified as Penicillium sp. (strain CNL-338) and the structure of the new metabolite was determined by analysis of ESI-TOF MS data combined with 1D and 2D NMR experiments.
متن کاملPenicillinolide A: A New Anti-Inflammatory Metabolite from the Marine Fungus Penicillium sp. SF-5292
In the course of studies on bioactive metabolites from marine fungi, a new 10-membered lactone, named penicillinolide A (1) was isolated from the organic extract of Penicillium sp. SF-5292 as a potential anti-inflammatory compound. The structure of penicillinolide A (1) was mainly determined by analysis of NMR and MS data and Mosher's method. Penicillinolide A (1) inhibited the production of NO...
متن کاملPretrichodermamides D–F from a Marine Algicolous Fungus Penicillium sp. KMM 4672
Three new epidithiodiketopiperazines pretrichodermamides D-F (1-3), together with the known N-methylpretrichodermamide B (4) and pretrichodermamide С (5), were isolated from the lipophilic extract of the marine algae-derived fungus Penicillium sp. KMM 4672. The structures of compounds 1-5 were determined based on spectroscopic methods. The absolute configuration of pretrichodermamide D (1) was ...
متن کاملLactone derivatives from the marine-derived fungus Penicillium sp. PSU-F44.
Two new fungal metabolites, penicipyrone (1), and penicilactone (2), were isolated from the marine-derived fungus Penicillium sp. PSU-F44 along with three known macrolides, (+)-brefeldin A (3), (+)-brefeldin C (4), and 7-oxobrefeldin A (5). Their antimicrobial activities against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus SK1 and Microsporum gypseum SH-MU-4 were examined.
